Treatment Philosophy

As a clinical health psychologist with experience both in general mental health and behavioral medicine, I offer a wide variety of services. My specialty is in providing behavioral health services to promote positive lifestyle changes and improved quality of life. In journeying with patients toward health and well-being, I take into consideration biological, psychological, and social bases of health and disease. Collaborating with my patient’s medical providers is often helpful in my efforts to provide holistic, patient-centered care.

I tailor interventions to the needs of the individual and am skilled in cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, brief solution-focused therapy, and problem-solving therapy. Many challenges can be overcome by addressing problematic thoughts and beliefs. I also frequently promote valued living, mindfulness, and goal setting as strategies to live a more fulfilling life. More important than any therapy approach, however, is the therapeutic relationship I strive to cultivate with my patients. Given that most of my background is in working with adults, I only provide therapy services to patients age 18 and older.

In addition to operating from a biopsychosocial lens, I am attuned to the spiritual needs of my patients. Although I work with individuals from any religious/non-religious or cultural background, I specialize in Christian integration—incorporating a Biblical perspective when requested. I also have a strong interest in integrating psychology and technology and promote the use of mental health mobile apps.
