The wedding is one day. The marriage is the rest of your life. Premarital counseling helps engaged couples build a strong foundation before saying “I do.”

You don’t need a problem to start. Most couples who come to us before the wedding are happy and excited. They also have questions they don’t always say out loud. Are we really on the same page about money, kids, and family? Do we know how to handle conflict when it comes? Premarital counseling is a place to ask those questions honestly, with a trained guide. Building healthy habits now is far easier than undoing old ones later. We also work with newlyweds in their first year of marriage.

What couples work on

  • Communicating clearly, especially when you disagree
  • Fighting fair and repairing afterward
  • Money: spending, saving, debt, and who handles what
  • Family of origin, in-laws, and holidays
  • Roles, household responsibilities, and the mental load
  • Affection, intimacy, and keeping connection alive
  • Children and parenting
  • Shared values, faith, and the life you want to build

An evidence-based approach

Our premarital work draws on research-supported tools and may include the Prepare/Enrich assessment. With that assessment, each partner completes a confidential online questionnaire. The resulting report highlights your strengths as a couple and the areas worth attention, so sessions focus on what matters most for the two of you rather than a one-size-fits-all curriculum.

Save on your Georgia marriage license

Georgia couples who complete at least six hours of qualifying premarital education within 12 months before applying are eligible for a discount on their marriage license. Licensed psychologists are qualified providers, and we provide a certificate of completion when you finish.

In person or by telehealth

Sessions are available at our offices and by secure video for couples located in Georgia.
