Treatment Philosophy
I decided to become a therapist so that I could help others. What I have found is that people have an inherent ability to help themselves and my job is more to guide them to use their strengths to enhance their quality of life. I use both cognitive and behavior techniques as well as solution-focused therapy to help clients engage more fully with their present experiences as well as make changes towards their future goals. When appropriate, I also use a psychodynamic approach to help clients process past experiences in a healthy and effective way. I provide a client-centered, humanistic approach, providing a non-judgmental, empathic environment for clients to feel welcome to share whatever is on their minds. Support and validation are of utmost importance to me, as these are the foundations of a strong therapeutic relationship.
I am trained in in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and also have knowledge of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills. While I do provide therapy both virtually and in person, EMDR services are available through in person sessions only.
