I decided to become a therapist so that I could help others. What I have found is that people have an inherent ability to help themselves and my job is more guide them to those strengths and use those strengths to enhance their quality of life. I use both cognitive and behavior techniques as well as solution-focused therapy to help clients engage more fully with their present experiences as well as make changes towards their future goals. When appropriate, I also use a psychodynamic approach to help clients process past experiences in a healthy and effective way. I provide a client-centered, humanistic approach, providing a non-judgmental, empathic environment for clients to feel welcome to share whatever is on their minds. Support and validation are of utmost importance to me, as these are the foundations of a strong therapeutic relationship.
I am trained in in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and also have knowledge of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills. While I do provide therapy both virtually and in person, EMDR services are available through in person sessions only.
