I decided to become a counselor so I could help others. What I have found is that people have an inherent ability to help themselves and my job is more to help guide them to those strengths and use those strengths to enhance their quality of life. I use a combination of acceptance and commitment therapy and solution-focused therapy to help clients to engage with their present experiences more fully as well as make changes toward their future goals. I also provide a client-centered, humanistic approach, providing a non-judgmental, empathic environment for clients to feel welcome to share whatever is on their minds. Support and validation is of utmost importance to me, as these are the foundations of a strong therapeutic relationship.
Additionally, I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) to treat clients with a history of trauma. EMDR services are provided through in person sessions only.
