Treatment Philosophy

As a rehabilitation-focused neuropsychologist, it’s my goal to listen to the problems my patients are having in their daily lives, and determine how they correspond to a pattern of underlying strengths/weaknesses within the brain. With this information, I work collaboratively on a personalized treatment approach to help patients compensate for areas of weakness and maximize strengths to help them get back to doing what’s most important to them.

With over ten years of experience working in hospital and rehabilitation settings (including University of Alabama at Birmingham, University of Washington, and Emory University medical centers), I have extensive knowledge of complex medical conditions and their impact on people’s lives. Since 2020, I have become an expert in diagnosing and treating cognitive changes associated with Long COVID, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and other post-viral conditions. While much remains to be learned about these diagnoses, I am passionate about helping my patients achieve their best possible quality of life through an individualized approach and ongoing consultation with an international community of experts.

In addition to assessment, I provide cognitive rehabilitation and psychotherapy to individuals and their loved ones coping with changes in health status. Through cognitive rehabilitation, I teach strategies for management of cognitive impairment in the real world. My approach to psychotherapy is focused on compassionate processing of the illness experience, and collaboratively developing skills so that my patients are able to live rich, values-directed lives in spite of their ongoing symptoms.
