Treatment Philosophy
I’m a solution oriented therapist and I believe strongly in people’s ability to change. I ascribe to a Cognitive Behavioral approach, recognizing the power of our thoughts to influence our emotions and actions, both positively and negatively. I help my clients explore, understand and challenge beliefs which may be contributing to their problems.
Having worked with children, teens, adults, couples and families for over 35 years, I recognize that problems are often the result of an interaction of several variables; inherent genetic predispositions, personality style and family relationships. When possible and appropriate, I invite family members into the therapeutic session as powerful change often happens within these relationships.
